Don't let a changing of the seasons catch your eyes by surprise. Different conditions call for different routines to keep your contact lenses comfortable and your eyes feeling great.
Here's a list of things to remember when trading your ski boots in for sandals and vice versa.
Contact lenses and allergies can be difficult to handle. Seasonal allergies can cause red, itchy and swollen eyes, and wearing contact lenses can make these symptoms even worse. Be aware that if you use eye drops to relieve your eye allergies, you must take out your contact lenses before using the product. Then, you must wait at least 10 minutes before you can re-insert your lenses.
Warmer weather means it's time for hanging out by the pool or at the beach. If by chance you get chlorine or sunblock in your eyes while wearing contact lenses, never use tap water to flush your eyes since it can cause an infection. Instead, take out your contact lenses and use a sterile saline solution to wash out your eyes. Each time you remove your contact lenses they should be cleaned and disinfected according to their directions for use before you reinsert them in your eyes. Also, be sure to wear your UV blocking shades when outside of the water, and make a practice of removing your lenses should you choose to get in it.
Whether you are taking in the colors of autumn or knee-deep in winter fun, this time of year can bring challenges for your contact lenses. If high winds and heated buildings make your eyes uncomfortable, moisten your contact lenses with a rewetting drop such as OPTI-FREE® RepleniSH® Rewetting Drops.
